Caffeine in Christiansted: Capt Matt’s Coffee Guide to St. Croix’s Old Town

Updated 2 min read

Sunrise over Christiansted harbor, St. Croix
Sunrise over Christiansted harbor. Grab your coffee in town, then join us on the water.

Good coffee is never more than a short walk away in this town. Here’s every spot I’d send a friend to.

From the boardwalk to the side streets, Christiansted runs on caffeine and good people. Pick the spot that fits your morning. None of them paid to be here.

Quick picks

  • VI Coffee Roasters – coffee with a harbor view
  • Gary’s Bakery – coconut drops and bush tea
  • The Courtyard – juice, coffee and shade
  • Toast Diner – Vietnamese iced coffee
  • Twin City Coffee House – the classic
  • Rouge Café – lavender latte
  • Crucian Coffee Club – seasonal lattes and brunch
  • Crucian Cafe – bush tea and local art
  • Cane & Coast – breakfast and fresh juice
  • The Bistro – big breakfast, easy parking

The stops

  1. VI Coffee Roasters – On the boardwalk in the King Christian Hotel building. Small-batch, roasted in-house. Grab a cup and watch the boats head out.
  2. Gary’s Bakery, 33 King St – Don’t skip this one. Coconut drops and bush tea; go early. Saturday is Crucian breakfast.
  3. The Courtyard, King St – A shady green oasis with coffee, cold-pressed juice or smoothies, and open-air yoga upstairs.
  4. Toast Diner, Pan Am Pavilion – Rum cake French toast, and ask for a Vietnamese iced coffee. Walk-ins only.
  5. Twin City Coffee House, Company St – The 20-plus-year classic. Guava shortbread if you see it.
  6. Rouge Café, Company St – A shady courtyard behind Rouge Duty Free. Try the lavender latte.
  7. Crucian Coffee Club, 41 Queen Cross St – House-made syrups, seasonal lattes and brunch.
  8. Crucian Cafe, Strand St – Next to Crucian Gold. Coffee, bush tea, fresh juice and local art.
  9. Cane & Coast, King St – Right by Gary’s. Coffee, fresh juice and a proper breakfast plate.
  10. The Bistro, Gallows Bay – If you’re driving in, start here. Big breakfast or avocado toast, with parking out front.
