Golden hour aboard Celebration.

Key takeaways

  • Both public sunset cruises are 2 hours aboard Celebration from the Christiansted Boardwalk: Family Friendly on Tuesdays, Adults Only on Fridays.
  • Family Friendly: Adults 18+ $45, Young Adults 3–17 $35, Tiny Humans 0–2 free. Adults Only: $40 per person.
  • Private sunsets are $750 per boat on Smooth Recovery, Wave Dancer, Inconceivable or Good Times, and $1,500 on Celebration.
  • Departure time follows the sunset, so it changes through the year. Arrive 15 minutes early.

There’s no better way to end a day in St. Croix than on the water as the sun goes down. We run two public sunset cruises a week from the Christiansted Boardwalk, plus private sunsets on five different boats. They’re very different experiences, so here’s how to choose.

The Family Friendly sunset cruise (Tuesdays)

Our Family Friendly sunset cruise is a chill, non-party cruise for all ages, out toward Buck Island or along the coast aboard Celebration, our 41 ft power catamaran. It carries up to 30 guests, and adults get one complimentary rum punch. Kids are welcome: Young Adults 3–17 are $35 and Tiny Humans 0–2 ride free.

The Adults Only sunset cruise (Fridays)

Kick off your shoes. The Friday cruise has loud music, dancing, one complimentary rum punch for adults and a cash bar with Mutiny Island Vodka cocktails and Leatherback beers. It’s $40 per person, with up to 28 guests. Online dates start November 6. From June to October it isn’t bookable online, so call us for dates.

What’s included on the public sunset cruises

  • A U.S. Coast Guard licensed captain and crew
  • National park fees
  • Water, plus one complimentary rum punch for adults on both public sunset cruises
  • Music and a picturesque view

Drinks: the bar is cash. Cocktails are $10, and beer and rum punch are $5. You can also prepay with $10 drink tokens when you book. There’s no dinner on the public cruises, so plan to eat before or after. Christiansted is right there.

Private sunset charters: your boat, your crew

For a proposal, an anniversary or just your own crew, a private sunset gives you the whole boat. Every price is for the boat, not per person:

BoatPriceDetails
Smooth Recovery$750Fast center console, up to 12 guests, Mon–Sat 4 pm, unlimited rum punch and soft drinks
Wave Dancer$750A true sail into the sunset on our 32 ft sailing catamaran, Wed, Thu & Fri 5 pm, Christiansted (Green Cay Marina starting Nov 1, 2026)
Inconceivable$75042 ft sailing catamaran, up to 12 guests, Green Cay Marina, departs about 2 hours before sunset
Good Times$75042 ft Leopard power catamaran, up to 12 guests, Green Cay Marina
Celebration$1,50041 ft luxury power catamaran with a bar and full bathroom, up to 28 guests, Christiansted

There’s no dinner service on board, but you’re welcome to bring your own food on a private sunset. Smooth Recovery and Wave Dancer can arrange provisioning with 48 hours’ notice.

Sail or power?

If you want the quiet of the wind in the sails, choose a sailing catamaran: Wave Dancer (Christiansted now, Green Cay Marina starting Nov 1, 2026) or Inconceivable from Green Cay Marina. If you’d rather have speed, shade and stability, choose a power boat: Good Times, Smooth Recovery or Celebration. For bigger groups, Celebration takes up to 28 guests.

How to choose in 30 seconds

  • Traveling with kids? Book the Family Friendly cruise on a Tuesday, or a private sunset for just your family (Wave Dancer is boarded by ladder, so it isn’t recommended for very young children).
  • Adults wanting a party? The Adults Only cruise on Friday, with loud music, a complimentary rum punch and a cash bar.
  • Proposal, anniversary or birthday? A private sunset. Pick a sailing catamaran for a quiet sail, or Celebration if you’re bringing a crowd.
  • Staying near Green Cay Marina? Inconceivable and Good Times leave from there, east of Christiansted.
  • On a budget? The public cruises start at $35 for Young Adults and $40 for adults.

What time do sunset cruises leave?

Departure time follows the sunset, so it changes through the year. Pick a date on the booking calendar to see the exact time. Please arrive 15 minutes early. With several boats departing from both Christiansted and Green Cay Marina, please check your confirmation for your departure point, or call us at (340) 773-2628 with any questions. Private sunsets on Inconceivable and Good Times leave from Green Cay Marina, and Celebration from Christiansted. Wave Dancer departs from Christiansted now and from Green Cay Marina starting Nov 1, 2026. On Smooth Recovery, you tell us your pickup spot when you book (48 hours’ notice).

What to bring

  • Reef-safe sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses
  • Cash for the bar on the public cruises
  • Your camera or phone for golden hour
  • Cash for your crew’s gratuity: 20–25% is recommended

It’s a no-shoes cruise, so be ready to go barefoot.

Tips for a great sunset cruise

  • Book early in your trip. If the weather changes plans, we’ll reschedule or refund you, and booking early leaves more nights to reschedule into.
  • Check the time for your date. Because departure follows the sunset, the time on the booking calendar is the one to plan dinner around.
  • Prepay your drinks. $10 drink tokens bought when you book mean less cash to carry.

Cancellation policy

Public sunset cruises: cancel 48 hours or more ahead for a 100% refund. Within 48 hours, you get a 50% refund. No-shows are billed in full.

Private sunsets: cancel 48 hours or more ahead for a 100% refund. Inside 48 hours, the refund depends on the boat and is shown on each trip’s page and booking screen. See our full cancellation policy. If we cancel for weather, we’ll reschedule or give you a full refund.
